A Home Buying Experience That is Pleasant, Fun, and Smooth...Really, It's Possible
When you decide to buy a home, there is always a part of everyone that wonders if it is really worth the time, energy, and effort necessary to buy the home. But believe it or not, buying a home should and could be a good experience. Here are a few questions to ask your real estate agent before you begin the process.
Topics to Discuss When Buying a Home
Traditionally there are numerous inspections, appraisals, and other formal reviews that need to be completed before buying a home is complete, and it's important that you know what to expect.
Talk to your real estate agent and your lender about the requirements surrounds a survey of the property. You will want to know if a survey is necessary for every deal, only some deals, or if there really isn't a good rule of thumb in your area. But if a survey of the property is necessary, make sure you know who will be paying for it - the seller, or you.
Sometimes home buyers will find problems with the title or deed of the home they would like to buy. You need to be certain that the deed is without problems. Who will be responsible for paying for this verification? It is typically part of the closing costs, but make sure. And you will also want to ask about the average cost of this service.
While you know that you will have to pay some additional costs associated with buying a home, but do you know what those are and how much they will be? Talk to your lender and your real estate agent about closing costs, so you know what to expect. Also ask if there are any other closing fees you should be aware of, such as taxes, agent fees, etc.
As you get closer to finalizing the offer and making all other arrangements, you will want to ask about the time expected to close on the purchase. This process usually takes between three and five weeks, but again this can, and will, vary on your particular circumstances.
On to the Next Steps of Buying a Home
You are getting so close you can almost smell the new paint drying in the bedroom. But before you get to that point, there's still some things to be done on the new home buying front. With all of the details to take care of before you buy a home, there are bound to be little problems that pop up from time to time. The most important thing to remember is to always keep a cool head throughout the process. Things will work out in the end, and when they do, you'll be happier than you were when you started.
So when things start to feel like they're getting out of control, and you become a little concerned about whether or not the whole process is worth it, believe in yourself, believe in your decisions and look forward to being a home owner.
